So the other day as I was being bored as usual browsing the internet, I read somewhere that needlepoint was going to be a big hobby this year. I was always looking for ways to spend my time, and since I had some leftover fabric and some thread, I decided to try it out. The end result is the flower on top that you saw, and I was pretty proud of it. In the summer when I have loads of free time, I’ll try embroidering collars of cheap shirts as a way to save money on the summery/spring outfits. I’ve always wanted shirts with nifty embroidered collars on them, but they were always too expensive :(. I’m also planning to make some Halloween costumes during my break, such as Belle’s blue costume, and Alice’s dress and apron. I actually made Wendy Darling’s dress over Christmas break, which explains the blue cloth I used for the embroidery.
I didn’t really follow a specific pattern, and mostly experimented with the ways I did the sewing (but I’m pretty sure a lot of the things I did were wrong). It’s not the most comfortable piece of clothing, but I’m proud of it nonetheless (is that what one would call “A face only a mother can love”???). There’s loads I have to learn, but I’m proud of what I’ve done for now, and that I did not put out an eye while holding a needle for such a long period of time. I completed the dress in 4 days, which may not have been a really long time, but I spent more than half the day hand-sewing the dress. I look forward to summer break so I’ll be able to make more costumes and embroider more things!
